PUBLIC COMMENTS INVITED ON THE REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE

TO EXAMINE ISSUES RELATING TO MAPIN

FRESH REGISTRATIONS FOR UIN SUSPENDED

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had constituted a committee to examine the issues relating to obtaining Unique Identification Number (UIN) under SEBI (Central Database of Market Participants) Regulations, 2003 (MAPIN) in March 2005.

The Committee has submitted its report on June 23, 2005. A copy of the report has been placed on SEBI’s website (www.sebi.gov.in) for public comments. Suggestions / comments may be sent by e-mail to mapin@sebi.gov.in or through post to Shri V S Sundaresan, General Manager, SEBI, 29^th Floor, Centre-1, World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai – 400 005, to reach by July 15, 2005.

In the light of the above, it has been decided that all fresh registrations for UIN under the existing MAPIN Regulations would stand suspended with effect from July 01, 2005.
