It is SEBI’s belief that educating and empowering investors can proactively achieve its prime mandate of investor protection. Besides, investor education, financial education is also considered important for promoting financial inclusion particularly in developing countries and is also firmly endorsed and emphasized by the Standing Committee of Parliament on Finance recently. Towards this SEBI has launched its financial education program, in the western region covering the following topics:
1. Introduction to Savings & Investments 2. Basics of Budgeting ,Inflation Effects on Investments, Risk and Return, Power of Compounding & Time Value of Money 3. Choosing the Right Investment Options 4. Asset Allocation Strategy 5. Savings & Investment Related Products such as Banks, Government Schemes, Bonds, Debentures, Company Fixed Deposits, Mutual Funds, Equity Shares, Depository system, Investment Philosophies etc. 6. Protection Related Products like Insurance Policies, Health Insurance 7. Borrowing Related Products Personal Loans, Home Loans, Reverse Mortgage, Loans Against Securities, Credit Card Debt, Steps to Avoid Excess Debt 8. Investor Protection & Grievances Redressal Mechanism. Etc.

These programs will be conducted by SEBI Certified Financial Education Trainers, who have undergone intensive training at National Institute for Securities Market (NISM, established by SEBI). The contact details of trainers are place below.
This program can be conducted for any Institution / NGO /group, at a mutually convenient date and time. The program shall be interactive in nature with duration of around 2-3 hours. All cost in respect of study material for the participants and the trainer shall be borne by SEBI. The institution / NGO / Group is only required to provide the venue and a minimum of 50 participants. When ever needed SEBI shall also depute one of its officials to attend the program to make it more effective and useful for the participants.
