Market Regulation Department (MRD)

Division of Policy

  • The division handles the work related to:
      • a) Policy related to depositories and stock exchanges with respect to trading, operations and other related areas for all segments including the following: 
        •     i. Cash market 
        •     ii. Debt 
        •     iii .Equity Derivatives 
        •     iv. Currency derivatives 
        •     v. SME platform
        • b) Work related to Secondary Market Advisory Committee (SMAC) and Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).

Division of SRO Administration

a) Registration, recognition and administration of depositories and stock exchanges in respect of all segments.

b) Inspections of new exchanges for initial recognition/exchange segments, and recommencement of trading.

c) Policy with regards to ownership, governance and exit of stock exchanges.

d) Reviewing rule change proposals relating to all policy issues, supervision of the MIls to the extent of compliance with regulatory provisions through periodic reports and regulatory action.

e) Issuance of show cause notices, appointment of Enquiry/ Adjudication officers and consequential action up to serving of Chairman's order and maintenance of data in respect of all MIls.

Division of Risk Management and New Products

Recognition, administration and policy relating to functioning and operations of Clearing Corporations. Prescribing and monitoring risk management and settlement practices in clearing corporation. Approval and policy relating to development of new products on Stock Exchanges.

Division of Market Supervision

Conducting inspections of Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs) which includes all segments of Stock Exchanges(excluding Commodity Derivative Exchanges), Depositories and Clearing Corporations. The division also monitors the IT Infrastructure of MIIs.

Investor Complaints Cell

ICC attends to complaints pertaining to MIIs. ICC also formulate policies related to investor's grievance redressal mechanism at MIIs and policies related to management and utilization of Investor's Protection Fund (IPF) and Investor's Services Fund (ISF) at MIIs.
